Buffalo Nickel July 4th

This July 4th we played a private party at the Jackson Yacht Club. There's a saying "hotter than the 4th of July", and I hope I never experience it because this July 4th was as hot as I could stand it! This was an outside event and we set up and started in the heat of the day by poolside, and it was HOT HOT HOT! While Buffalo Nickel loves playing clubs, festivals, and other concert venues, it's always nice to play private parties like these, especially when it is a family event and we can see first hand how HonkNRoll translates to all age groups. Little kids, old folks, and every age group between seemed to enjoy our brand of music. As the event went on we were approached by folks that had seen us with Wilco, and others that owned our CDs, and requested original material. We also played the Byrds tune "Spaceman"by request. Fat O Harry's 6/29/06

The no B.S. Tour continues:
We played our first show at Fat O Harry's and it was cool to be back in the building. Back in 1999 Buffalo Nickel played its first show as a five piece band with Emily, Steve, Clinton, Chris, and Elliott in the same building when the club was called Blues Alley. That show was recorded by Jack Berry with perhaps one of the coolest recordings of El Camino ever, but back to this show.

Now the venue is called Fat O' Harry's, and they've got a great crew working there. They added another room to the club with extra pool tables, etc. We played to a lot of people that had not seen us before, many of which bought CDs to take Nickel tunes home with them. There was even slow dancing on Buffalo Nickel originals. We slipped in a couple of "party rock" cover tunes only to find we did not really need to. The club seemed quite happy with HonknRoll, and our versions of Buck and Willie tunes. We'll be back in September.

Of note to me was the debut of my vintage 1982 Pearl Extender series "Orange Flash" drum set (the first time I've played them at a show), and they sounded GREAT! PLUS Brad took several cool photos of my Glow In the Dark HipTrix sticks that might be used on the Hiptrix Website at www.hiptrix.com
